Gold Coins Vs. Sweeps Coins: GC and SC Explained
By Wren Brightstar Gold Coins & Sweeps Coins
Last Updated:

Quick Answers
- Gold Coins (GC) are coins for play at Win Bonanza. You cannot exchange GC or what you win with GC for prizes. [1]
- Sweeps Coins (SC) are free coins for sweepstakes play at Win Bonanza. SC you win may qualify for prizes once you meet our play and account rules. [2]
- No purchase is necessary to get SC or enter our sweepstakes. Buying GC does not improve your chances of winning. [2]
From Wren’s Navigation Notes
The Neatest Mistake on the Map
At the Reach Cartographic Academy, our navigation display showed two coordinate readings beside each other. The first marked our shuttle’s current position. The second projected where the shuttle would be a few seconds later.
Both readings used the same format. I copied the projected position into my route as our starting point and completed every calculation correctly. The course was neat, precise, and already wrong before the first turn.
The numbers had not failed me. I had failed to read their labels.
GC and SC require the same attention. Both appear as coins on your screen, but they represent different kinds of play and follow different rules. Read the label before deciding what the number means.

GC Vs. SC at a Glance
The coin label tells you which kind of play you choose. More GC does not mean more SC.
| Question | Gold Coins (GC) | Sweeps Coins (SC) |
|---|---|---|
| What are they for? | Play for fun. | Sweepstakes play for people who meet our rules. |

How Do You Get Sweeps Coins?
You can get SC without buying GC. We offer free ways to enter and collect bonuses. Each has rules about who can claim it and what to do. [2]
- Welcome offers. New players who meet our rules can collect free SC through our welcome offer. The offer page shows what you get and how to claim it. [3]
- Handwritten mail entry. You can request free SC by mail if you meet our rules. Follow the exact steps in section 3.2.4 of the Sweepstakes Rules.
- Account bonuses. See our daily bonus and any occasional bonuses offered in your account. Your SC balance can affect whether you can claim daily SC. Check the rules shown with the bonus. [2]
- Free SC with certain GC packages. Some packages include free SC and others do not. Check the package before you choose it. [2]
I learned to check the starting point before plotting the next move. Give a GC package the same pause: read what it includes before you choose it. Our automated-purchase rules in section 7.1.12 prohibit using bots, scripts or macros to make multiple purchases. Rapid duplicate purchases and coordinated purchasing across accounts can also be treated as abuse.
The multiple-purchase abuse rules in section 7.2.5 explain what can follow: Win Bonanza may block or close an account, void affected coins and decline associated refunds. That is one detour I would rather help you avoid.
These are ways to get SC for sweepstakes play. Getting SC does not mean they are ready to exchange for a prize.
Wren’s Field Note
Two Readings, Two Meanings
My instructor kept the incorrect route on the wall while I explained where it had gone wrong. I called it a useful training exercise. My crew called it Wren’s Scenic Route. Their title received wider support.
Since then, I identify every reading before I use it. What does the number measure? Which point in the route does it describe? What can it actually tell me?
Apply that check to your coins. Your SC balance shows how many SC are in your account. It does not show that those SC have met every play, account, and prize requirement. That information needs its own check.
When Can SC Qualify for a Prize?
Playthrough means how much SC you must use in games that count before your SC can qualify for a prize. Our usual rule is one-time playthrough, or 1×: you must play through the SC once. Some games, offers or locations have a different rule. [2]
Worked Example: 10 SC with One-Time Playthrough
Suppose you receive 10 SC with a one-time playthrough requirement.
- Play needed in games that count: 10 SC.
10 SC received × 1 = 10 SC of qualifying play. - SC left after play: Not fixed.
Game results decide how much SC is left.
Meeting playthrough does not guarantee a prize.
If you receive 10 SC with a 1× requirement, you must use a total of 10 SC in games that count. You may have fewer than 10 SC left afterward. You may have none left. It depends on the game results.
When you ask to exchange SC for a prize, we call that a redemption request. We check that you meet our rules. We also check your account details and the SC you won. The smallest request you can make is 50 SC. Other limits and checks still apply, even after you meet the playthrough rule. You do not need to keep playing to reach 50 SC. Read our prize-request rules and account checks. [2]
Three Things to Check
- Whether you can play. You must be at least 18, or the legal adult age where you live if that is higher. You must live in, and play from, a U.S. location we allow. Check our location rules, age rules and Terms and Conditions, section 2.2.
- The active coin label. Check whether you chose GC or SC before you start a game. Read the label; do not just check the color.
- The game and offer rules. Read the game rules and any SC playthrough terms. Set a time limit that suits you. You can always take a break.
Name the Coin. Know the Route.

In our next navigation exercise, the same two readings appeared. This time, I marked one CURRENT POSITION and the other PROJECTED POSITION before plotting the course. The shuttle reached the correct marker without contributing another route to crew folklore.
Use the same habit here. GC are for fun and do not enter the prize process. SC are for sweepstakes play and must meet the applicable play, account, and prize rules.
Name the coin, understand what its balance represents, and read the rules connected to it. I can show you the route. The choice remains yours.

Your SC expire 60 days after your last account login. We remove them from your account when they expire. We send you an email before that happens. Read the SC expiry rules. [2]

No. You cannot send SC to another person. You can only receive SC from Win Bonanza. [2]
