What Is a Sweepstakes Casino? A Simple Guide

By Wren Brightstar Sweepstakes Basics

Wren explores connected platforms in a space city, introducing how sweepstakes casinos work.

Quick Answers

  • A sweepstakes casino offers casino-style games with a sweepstakes mode that can lead to prizes under its rules.
  • Gold Coins (GC) are for fun and cannot be redeemed; Sweeps Coins (SC) are for sweepstakes play and may lead to prizes.
  • No purchase is needed to get SC, enter or win at Win Bonanza, and a purchase does not improve your chances.

From Wren’s Navigation Notes

Three Alarms, Three Different Jobs

During a survey shift aboard the Meridian Spindle, three console alerts appeared almost at once. A proximity alert warned of an object near our route. A navigation alert showed that we had drifted from our planned position. An engineering alert reported a sensor fault.

All three used the same light and a short system code. The crew could see that something required attention. Nobody could immediately tell which alert belonged to which problem or what action should come first.

We checked the system log, cleared the nearby object, corrected our position, and isolated the faulty sensor. The craft was fine. Our labeling system was not.

A sweepstakes casino becomes easier to understand for the same reason. GC, SC, and SC that meet the applicable rules may appear as numbers on a screen, but they do different jobs. Start with the label, then follow the steps attached to it.

What Is a Sweepstakes Casino?

A sweepstakes casino offers casino-style games with a sweepstakes mode. That mode can lead to prizes when you meet the site’s rules. Many sites also have a play-for-fun mode with its own coins.

Win Bonanza uses Gold Coins, or GC, for fun. GC cannot be redeemed for prizes. We use Sweeps Coins, or SC, for sweepstakes play. SC won through play that meets our rules may be used for a prize request. [3] [1]

Each site can use different coin names and rules. This guide explains Win Bonanza.

What Is the Difference Between GC and SC?

Two coins, two uses
Question Gold Coins: GC Sweeps Coins: SC
What are they for? Play for fun. Sweepstakes play.
Can they lead to prizes? No. GC and GC results cannot be redeemed. Yes, SC won through qualifying play may lead to prizes. All prize rules apply.
Can you buy them? You can buy GC packages. You cannot buy SC directly.
Can you swap them? GC do not turn into SC. SC stay in a separate balance.

Some GC packages include free SC. Others do not. Check the offer before you choose it. Free SC with a package do not mean you can swap the two coins. [1]

Read the coin label before you start a game. Do not rely only on its color or the last mode you used. Our GC and SC guide gives more examples.

Can You Get SC Without a Purchase?

Yes. No purchase is needed to get SC, enter or win. A purchase does not improve your chances. [1]

Our mail entry method is called AMOE, short for alternative method of entry. A handwritten request that meets every rule may receive 5 SC. Section 3.2.4 of our Sweepstakes Rules gives the exact statement, envelope wording and mailing steps. [1]

Our mail entry guide helps you prepare. Keep the live rule beside you as you write.

SC may also come from account bonuses or free bonuses with some GC packages. Each offer has its own terms. For example, a daily SC bonus may depend on your SC balance. Read the offer in your account. [1]

How Does Sweepstakes Play Work?

From an account to a possible prize
Step What to check
Create your account Meet the age and location rules. Use one account with real details and agree to our Terms.
Collect SC Use a method allowed by our rules. Follow its steps.
Play with SC Read the coin label, game rules and any required play terms.
Check the SC for a prize Check which SC meet the play and prize rules.
Request a prize Follow the account steps and complete the records and review we request.

An SC balance alone does not approve a prize. Entry and play do not promise one either.

Wren’s Field Note

Read the Label

After the shift, I replaced the abbreviated alert codes with plain labels: PROXIMITY, POSITION, and EQUIPMENT. Beneath each one, I added the first action the crew should take.

I kept the colored lights. They were useful once they stopped carrying the entire explanation.

The crew should not need to remember what green meant three screens ago. Neither should you.

When you see a coin balance, ask what the number represents. GC, SC, and SC that meet the applicable play rules are separate labels. Knowing which one you are looking at tells you which rules and next steps apply.

How Are Game Results Chosen?

Many games use a random number generator, or RNG. It produces values. The game’s math turns those values into a result, and the screen shows it.

When each result is independent and the odds stay the same, earlier results do not change the next one. A run of one result does not make another result due. [5]

Some features change as play goes on. Read that game’s rules to learn how those features work. Our RNG guide explains the basics.

Who Can Play?

You must be at least 18, or the legal adult age that applies to you if it is higher. You also need to meet our other player rules. Use one account with your real details and agree to our Terms. [1] [2]

We exclude 15 U.S. states from sweepstakes play. Florida has a special limit for a prize from one play. Your home address and where you are now both matter. You cannot play from an excluded state just because you live elsewhere. [1] [2]

Do not use a VPN or another tool to hide your location. Ask support if a location check is wrong. Our guide to who can play covers age, account, ID and work or family restrictions. [2]

Read the Screen Before You Play

  1. Check the Coin Mode

Read the GC or SC label. Do not rely on color alone.

  2. Read the Game Rules

Check the results, features, and rules for the mode you chose.

  3. Check the SC Requirements

Before sweepstakes play, check who can take part, required play, and prize rules.

GC cannot be redeemed. Having SC in your balance does not mean a prize request is approved.

When Can SC Be Used for a Prize Request?

SC you collect generally need one-time qualifying play. This means play that counts under our rules. A game, offer or region may set a different requirement. [1]

That play requirement does not promise your balance afterward. Game results can change it. We must also check your account and the prize rules.

Our daily request minimum is 50 eligible SC. The daily maximum is 9,550 SC. Other play and state limits apply. We may ask for ID, proof of address or ownership records. [1]

You do not need to keep playing to reach the minimum. Use the status in your account and follow our instructions if you choose to request a prize.

What Should You Check First?

On the next survey shift, the proximity alert appeared again. This time, the crew read the label, checked the nearby object, and followed the listed response. Nobody had to guess which system needed attention.

The alarms had not become simpler. Their meanings had become clear.

Use the same approach here. First, confirm that you meet the player and location rules. Then check whether you are using GC or SC, read the game instructions, and review any requirements attached to the SC. An SC balance alone does not mean that a prize request is approved.

Know what the number represents, read the rules connected to it, and check what comes next. Clear labels rarely look heroic. They are considerably more useful.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a sweepstakes casino?

A sweepstakes casino offers casino-style games with a sweepstakes mode that may lead to prizes. At Win Bonanza, Gold Coins are for fun, while Sweeps Coins are used for sweepstakes play under our rules.

Do I need to make a purchase to get Sweeps Coins?

No. You do not need to make a purchase to get Sweeps Coins or enter our sweepstakes. Buying Gold Coins does not improve your chances of winning. Our Sweepstakes Rules explain the free entry methods.

Can Gold Coins be exchanged for prizes?

No. Gold Coins are for entertainment and cannot be exchanged for prizes. Sweeps Coins have separate play, account and prize rules. Check the coin label before you start.

Does an SC balance mean I can request a prize?

Not by itself. Your SC must meet our play rules, and your account and prize request must pass the required checks. Completing playthrough does not guarantee a prize.
