Account Verification Problems and How to Fix Them
By Sierra Ceres Fixing Verification Issues

Quick Answers
- A real document may be rejected if it is hard to read, too old, incomplete, or does not match your account.
- Fix the reason given in your notice. Do not alter an ID or open a second account.
- Account checks usually take 3–7 business days after we receive all requested documents. Extra checks can take longer.
From Sierra’s Systems Notes
The Healthy Seed with the Unreadable Label
After a leak in a habitat bay, I found a sealed seed packet with a water-damaged label. The seeds inside were healthy, but I could no longer read the variety or archive number. I kept the packet separate while I searched the archive for the record that matched it.
A verification document can have the same problem. The document may be genuine, but its photo might hide the date, cut off a name, or make another required detail unreadable. Read the reason it was rejected before trying again, then correct the specific problem.
Read the Reason First
Check the notice in your account or email. Which document was rejected, and why? If the reason is unclear, ask Mission Control, our support team. You do not need to send extra private files while you guess.
| Check | Common problem | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Identity | Old ID, wrong type, blur, or name mismatch | Use an accepted, valid ID and a clear photo. |
| Home address | Old date, missing address, or cut-off page | Send a recent accepted document with all details. |
| Bank ownership | Wrong statement type or missing owner details | Ask which bank record we need. |
| Account details | Wrong name or old address | Ask support to help correct the account. |
Our identity check guide explains each document’s job. Proof of your address does not also prove that you own a bank account.
Make Every Detail Easy to Read
We accept a valid passport, driver’s license, or state ID. It must be unexpired, show the same name as your account, and appear in a complete color image. Do not alter it.
-
- Blur: clean the lens, hold still, and take a new photo.
- Cut-off edges: keep the whole document in the frame.
- Glare: move the light or camera until the text is clear.
- Expired ID: use another accepted, valid document.
- Edited image: take a fresh photo of the original.
Do not add arrows, filters, new text, or covered fields. If you are worried about sharing a field, ask what we need and where to send it safely.

Correct Your Account Details
Compare the name and address on your account with the document. Tell our support team, Mission Control, if you spot a typo, old address, or changed legal name. Ask what proof we need to update the account.
Do not change an official document to match an error. Wait for our guidance before trying that check again. We allow one account per person, so a second account will not solve the problem.
Check the Date and Full Page
Proof of your home address must show your full name, current address, and a date within the past three months. Accepted examples include certain utility bills, vehicle registration, and receipts from local authorities.
A bank statement must also be from the past three months. It must be complete, readable, in color, and unaltered. Your full name and home address must match your account. A card photo or part of a transaction screen is not a full statement.
Some transfer-app, prepaid-card, and credit-card records are not accepted for this check. If you are unsure, ask whether we accept your bank and document type before sending them.
Fix the Check That Failed
-
Read the Reason
Find which check failed and what was wrong with the document.
-
Fix That Detail
Prepare a clear, valid document. Ask support to fix any wrong account details.
-
Send It Again
Use the official upload route and keep the same case number.
We still need to review the new file. Sending it does not guarantee approval.
Sierra’s Field Note
Fix the Detail That Failed
I did not choose a likely name for the seed packet and return it to the shelf. A wrong label would have created a second problem. I compared the readable parts of the damaged label with our archive until I found the record that belonged to it.
Treat a rejected upload the same way. If the first photo cut off the date, send a complete image and add a short note: “The first photo cut off the date. This image shows the full page.” Explain what you corrected and keep the same case number.
Send the Requested Files, Then Track the Reply
Open our account check page or Help Center yourself. Follow your case instructions and send every requested file. Save the date. Leave out unrelated records.
Account checks usually take 3–7 business days after we receive all requested documents. Missing files, mismatches, extra checks, or a busy review queue can add time.
If seven business days pass with no update, reply in the same case. Ask whether all files arrived and what still needs checking. Our support guide can help you write the message.
This estimate covers account checks. It does not cover every step of a prize request. See prize request delays if you are waiting for a prize too.
Keep a Clear, Safe Record
Keep the case number, submission dates, and support replies, then remove extra private files from shared devices. A reviewer needs one corrected document they can read, not a pile of uploads that repeat the same problem.
I follow the same rule in the seed archive: identify first, label second.
Your Next Step
Ask which detail needs fixing in your current case.
