Free Spins Explained: Features, Offers, and Rules

By Gigi Celeste Free Spins

Gigi reaches toward glowing rings with loop symbols in a guide to free spins and their rules.

Quick Answers

  • Free spins can come from a game feature or an account offer. Their source tells you which rules to read first.
  • For a game feature, check what starts it, the spin count, play level, added rules, and how it ends.
  • For an offer, also check who can claim it, the games and coin mode included, and the claim and use deadlines.

From Gigi’s Preflight Notes

One Amber Light, Two Assignments

Two dispatch messages once flashed the same amber alert on my console. I assumed they meant the same thing and reached for my routine-patrol checklist. Then I read the messages properly. The first assigned a patrol. The second sent us to help another crew, a very different flight plan.

The amber light had done its job: it made me look. It had not told me what the mission was. For that, I needed the message. A small distinction, discovered just before I flew confidently in the wrong direction.

“Free spins” can also describe two different things: a feature started inside a game or spins provided through an offer. Before following any instructions, check where the spins came from. That tells you which rules belong to your route.

Where Did the Free Spins Come From?

Two common sources
Source What starts it Which rules to read first
Game feature A symbol pattern, meter, or other game event. The game’s feature rules and paytable.
Account offer An offer with steps to claim the spins. The offer rules, then the game rules.

These are ways free spins can work. An offer may not be available to your account. Check your own offer. Our bonuses and rewards guide explains the wider reward picture.

Open your game through All Games to find its rules. A game with a similar name may use a different feature.

What Starts a Game Feature?

A trigger is the event that starts a feature. Find the symbols, count, spaces, and game mode needed. Check whether the symbols must land in one round.

For example, if a feature needs three symbols in one round, two are not enough. Two also do not tell you when a third will land. If the game saves symbols in a meter, read how that meter works.

Extra trigger symbols may add spins or change the starting feature. Read the exact rule. Our special symbols guide explains the common symbol jobs.

The Spin Count and Play Level Do Different Jobs

The counter shows how many feature spins remain. The play level sets the coin amount used to work out results. Another meter might track a symbol, multiplier, or collection.

Some features use the play level from the round that started them. Check before assuming you can change it during the feature.

Also check when the counter updates. A lower count in a screenshot may simply mean one spin has already run.

What Changes During the Feature?

Free spins may add an expanding symbol, keep a wild in place, raise a multiplier, or change the board. Each game sets its own rules. [2]

For each change, ask: what does it affect, when does it start, and how long does it last? It may change one symbol or many results. It may end after one spin or last through the feature.

The animation shows that something happened. Read the rule to find out what it changed.

Gigi’s Field Note

The Question I Kept

Now, before my hand gets anywhere near a dispatch checklist, I ask, “What started this?” An amber light may wave dramatically for my attention. It does not get to choose where I fly.

Ask the same question about free spins. If they started inside the game, read the game’s feature rules. If they came from an offer, read the offer rules first. The name may match, but the instructions do not.

What Does Retrigger Mean?

A retrigger is an event that adds spins or extends a feature. Check what starts it, how many spins it adds, and any limit. Its trigger may differ from the one that first started the feature.

In a made-up example, four spins left plus three extra spins gives seven before the next spin runs. Resetting a count to three gives a different result. Check whether the game adds or resets.

Also read whether a retrigger keeps an existing multiplier. Several spins without an extension do not make another one due.

What to Check in a Free-Spin Offer

Find who can claim it, the exact games, coin mode, and play level. Check the deadline to claim and the deadline to use the spins. They may differ. Then read what happens to unused spins and where any results are added.

We can offer different deals to different accounts. A friend’s free spins may not apply to you. Free methods for getting Sweeps Coins (SC) are separate from free-spin offers. One does not promise the other. [3]

No purchase is needed to get SC or enter our sweepstakes. A purchase does not improve your chances of winning. Any SC prize request still has to meet our sweepstakes rules.

Find the Right Free-Spin Rules

  1. Find Where They Came From

Check whether the spins started inside a game or came from an account offer.

  2. Read the Conditions

For a game feature, check the spin count. For an offer, check the named game and deadlines.

  3. Follow the Sequence

Check how extra spins are added, how results are recorded, and when the spins end.

Offers and game features have different rules. The words “free spins” alone do not tell you which rules apply.

If the Feature Is Interrupted

Pause and reconnect to your own account. Check any available round details before more play. If you cannot find a record, ask Mission Control, our support team, what was saved.

Note the game, time, coin mode, last shown count, and any error. A frozen animation does not prove the feature should restart or that spins can move to another game.

Use the support portal or [email protected]. Explain what you saw and ask what the game recorded. Keep passwords and security codes out of the message.

Use the Right Checklist

I still see amber alerts, but I no longer treat them as matching assignments. With free spins, check the source, the rules, the counter, and how the feature ends. Then keep the stop time you chose. An interesting detour does not get to take over the whole flight plan.

Your Next Step

Check how its free spins start, run, and end.

Read a game’s feature rules

Frequently Asked Questions

Are free spins always an account promotion?

No. Free spins can come from a game feature or an account offer. Their source tells you which rules to read first.

What does a free-spin retrigger mean?

A retrigger adds spins or extends a feature under that game’s rules. Check what starts it, how many spins it adds and any limit. Adding spins and resetting a counter are different actions.

Can promotional free spins be used on any game?

Only use them on the games named in the offer. Also check the coin mode, play level and separate deadlines to claim and use the spins.

What should I do if a free-spin feature is interrupted?

Stop and check what the game recorded. Save useful details and contact support if you cannot tell what happened. Do not assume a frozen screen means the feature was canceled.
